Additional support to contact your energy supplier

Need additional support to connect with your energy supplier? You may require a low-to-no-cost contact number, British Sign Language interpreter, language translation, or a textphone service.  

Below is a list of alternative contact options we have for some energy suppliers across Great Britain.  

Not all suppliers details are currently available. Please refer to your latest energy bill for supplier contact information.

Contact option definitions

Below is a list of definitions detailing some alternative contact options:

  1. Free-phone or toll-free definition

    Calls are free of charge from all consumer landlines and mobile phones. 

    Number starts with 0800 or 0808

  2. Geographic number or local rate number definition

    These numbers are specific to certain locations in the UK and are used for homes and businesses. For example, Cardiff is 029, Edinburgh is 0131 and London is 020. 

    These geographic numbers are sometimes referred to as basic rate, local rate or national rate numbers. 
     
    Numbers start with 01 or 02

  3. Textphone Definiton

    Textphones have a keyboard and a display screen. You type your message instead of speaking into a mouthpiece and can read the conversation on a display without needing to hear the other party. You may decide to use a textphone instead of a standard telephone if you are d/Deaf and/or if you have difficulties with your speech. 

  4. Relay UK app definition

    The Relay UK app offers text-to-speech and speech-to-text translation services. A relay assistant in a call centre acts as an intermediary, enabling people with hearing or speech impairments to communicate with other people over the telephone.

  5. SignLive or VideoRelay definition

    SignLive and VideoRelay provide real-time British Sign Language interpretation for d/Deaf or hard of hearing individuals. Users can make a video call to a professional interpreter, enabling them to communicate with hearing people through sign language.

Extra help for energy customers - sign up to the Priority Services Register (PSR)

If you have a disability or rely on energy to help with a health condition, it may be a good idea to add yourself to the Priority Services Register (PSR). The PSR is a free service that offers extra support including restoring power as quickly as possible if there’s a power cut.  

To find out if you qualify for support call 0800 169 9970 or search online for ‘Priority Services Register’. You can also contact your energy supplier to find out more.
